The work of those who support individuals with Developmental Disabilities especially Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) can be taxing and intense leading to burnout. This Training will cover practical strategies and techniques to keep all staff engaged and the work environment positive. This training will:

  1. Define burnout, compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction and secondary trauma and how they affect our everyday life
  2. Provide an overview of the concepts of self-care
  3. Increase participants' knowledge of the importance of self-care
  4. Define components of self care and integrate into practice
  5. Demonstrate self-care methods that participants can utilize during times of stress
